God can never be killed. But Jesus chose to die in order to bear the ultimate punishment of our sin, and defeat our greatest enemy, death. Injeel says that Jesus volunteered to lay down His life as a sacrifice to save mankind. Jesus said, “I am the good Shepherd; the good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep” (Injeel- John 10:10). “The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again.
Jesus is 100% God and 100% Man at the same time. It is the Man who laid down His life. Carefully observe the very words of Jesus below.
No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have the authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.” (Injeel- John 10:17-18).
This means even as Jesus had laid down His own life, He was ALIVE to take back His life. It is therefore the earthly body which died, but on the third day this body came back to life with a bodily transformation.
